Inspired by Starbucks

Went to Starbucks to get my sister a gift card and as soon as I saw the cool envelope they gave me to put it in I KNEW I knew I was going to make her a card with this leaf stamp and patterned paper.

Supplies: All stamps by Hero Arts: Bold Tropical Leaf, Wavy Graphic Borders, Sunny Messages, Aged Background Block, Wishing a Happy Day, and Patterned Flowers. Acrylic Paint by Making Memories in Blue Risby, Honeydew, and Banana. VersaMark watermark ink. StazOn in Jet Black and Pumpkin. Acetate notecards by Hero Arts. Wood patterned paper from Michael’s. Cardstock by Paper Source. Ribbon by American Crafts. Circle punch by EK Success.

Here’s what I did: cut the cardstock to make an 4.25 x 5.5″ card with the fold on the short side. Cover inside left with wood patterned paper.

Create pockets from the acetate notecards to hold the Starbucks gift card and a little note — start by using the circle punch to cut half circles from the tops. Paint some banana acrylic paint on part of one of the acetate cards, let dry and stamp message and wavy squares. Hold an acetate notecard to the front of the green card and punch 4 holes. Then hold another acetate notecard to the inside over the wood patterned paper and punch 4 more holes using the others as guides. Tie acetate notecards to green card with ribbon.

Then I decorated the inside of the notecard — the flower was stamped with pumpkin StazOn, and the wavy squares were stamped with the VersaMark and Jet Black StazOn, and the message was stamped in black, everything else is stamped using paint. Be sure to wash the paint from your stamps before it has a chance to dry. Cut a piece of recycled white paper to fit a vellum envelope, stamp a leaf on the front in split pea VersaColor ink — this isn’t shown, but I added a little note inside.

Let me know if you have any questions, looks like alot of work, but it was fun. Chris, hope you like it (and hope you don’t see this post until after you get it, ha)!
