Hero Arts + BasicGrey = modern vintage Valentine!

Have you heard? Hero Arts and BasicGrey have partnered together, yay! It’s like Nutella on toast to me — two of my favorite things, all in one delicious spot. :) I could hardly wait to make a card with them.

Then as I was reading Cath’s Moxie Fab article on The Appearance of Cameos in the new Paper Crafts magazine on the plane ride back from CHA-LA the wheels started turning…!

And then! I spied some hearts on BasicGrey’s new Hello Lucious paper as I was putting it away yesterday.

And that was it, I just had to stamp! Here’s what I came up with:

I like to think of it as “modern vintage” — the colors make it modern, but the patterns and cameo make it more vintage. What do you think?

And! One of the things I really love about BasicGrey’s 6×6 paper packs is how some of the papers are a solid color with just a little texture added to them — they’re perfect for stamping on. Here I stamped the Envelope Pattern background on the top brown piece, the cameo on an ivory piece, and the “Happy Valentine’s Day” message on a yellow piece. Plus I used an aqua piece to frame the cameo.

Supplies: Hero Arts Three Silhouettes, Envelope Pattern, and the message is from the Celebrate Everyday set. Basic Grey Hello Luscious 6×6 paper pack (will be available in the Hero Arts shop starting February 25th!). I used the charcoal gray chalk ink from the Colorbox Chocolates & Blueberries chalk queue — love how that looks, almost like velvet! I added a strip of dark red washi tape under the paper strips — love how it’s transparent so some of the pattern underneath shows through. And I finished off the cameo with a red heart pearl and some tiny gems. Oval and scallop punches used on the cameo are both by Marvy. Scallop frame on the photos from Pugly Pixel.

Can’t wait to play some more — I saved all the scraps!

And I can’t wait to send this to my Grandma, too.
