A happy stamping accident!

Hey you guys, how’s it going? Sure hope you’ve been having a good week! Me? Well, I’ve been going a little crazy! (Okay, MORE than a little crazy, ha! Feels like I’ve been drowning and now I’m finally coming up for air.)

You see, as a designer for Hero Arts we work on releases ahead of time — and right now we’re working on four BIG things, some of which you’ll see soon and some you won’t see until the Craft and Hobby Association trade show in a few weeks. Can’t say much, but it’s some really cool stuff! Sometimes it’s really super hard to keep it all in!

Like when I made this card — way back in March. Yep, March! Crazy to get in the swimming mood when there was still snow on the ground, ha ha ha!

But now it’s July and boy oh boy could I use a swim! Yeah! (It’s been over 100 F here for a while now!)

Wanted to share a little bit about how I stamped the swimsuit because it kinda happened by accident.

First I stamped it in navy, but then I decided it didn’t pop enough against the background — love this paper so much — how cool is that watercolor paper texture? brilliant, I say! — anyhow, then I decided to ink the top in pink + red and the bottoms in pink, but I forgot to clean off the navy first. So it left those little bits of color behind when I stamped it again — neato! Yay for happy accidents! Have you had any lately?

Supplies: Stamps and papers all from the Hero Arts and BasicGrey Lauderdale line. Inks are Momento redbud, lady bug and Paris dusk by Tsukineko. I trimmed the red paper with Fiskars pinking shears.

And! This card was used in the Hero Arts July Contest announcement — sure hope you can join in the fun!

Do you have any fun weekend plans? I’d love to hear! Right now all I can think about is recovering from this crazy week, ha!

Off to make some coffee and get caught up,

  2. Fun card, Lisa. Would love to know your secrets!

  3. Lisa, what a fun summery card! Love the wave background with the beautiful mix of pps! The happy accident on the bikini looks great – the touches of blue add so much! I don’t think I’ve had any happy accidents recently but sometimes when I don’t stamp an image perfectly I prefer the look of it. So my accidents can still end up on cards or else if it’s really terrible, punched out for little butterflies.

Can’t wait to see what you’ve been up to and I hope the craziness is finished for you:) Hope you have a relaxing weekend!

the acrylic block i was holding slipped and the sentiment wasn’t exactly where I wanted it but the clock was ticking during a 90 minute scramble so i just left it.

    now i kinda like it…

  10. I had such a feeling that you were behind this masterpiece when I saw it on the Blog!. Love it! Of course, I am a summer gal and love anything ocean/beach related. I love how you turned an “oh, no” into a “yeah!”. That doesn’t happen very often. Happy 4th weekend to you. Relax – sounds like you need it. Thanks for all you do.

  11. Cute card! Love the bright summery colors. Thanks for your help today. Jamie is having a picnic tomorrow and I’m working Monday, but will be off Tuesday for Madi’s surgery. Enjoy the rest of your weekend. MOM

Love your happy accident, Lisa ! This happens to me almost all the time because I’m such a sloppy and messy card-maker. Often times my happy accidents prompted me to “cover” up the mess that I made in the first place. Just now I had to cover a poorly embossed image with a button and I actually like how it turns out–YAY! I adore the textured look of the waves!! The colors are absolutely summery and gorgeous! The swimsuit is SO pretty with the varied colors (that touch of blue is GENIUS) ! Can’t wait to see what’s up in your sleeves (guess you are wearing sleeveless shirt as it is so hot-LOL)! Happy 4th of July!

  13. Gorgeous card – so bright and fresh! Your ink boo-boo definitely turned into serendipity ;)
Hope you’re having a wonderful weekend, Rx
