12 Tags / Day 10: Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree

At the Christmas party hop!

Welcome back to Ellen Hutson’s annual 12 Tags of Christmas party! Today’s carol was my sister’s favorite when we were growing up — I gotta ask her if she still sings it non-stop like she used to!

This tag came together super quick and yeah I was giggling the whole time I made it! You see that cutie chipmonk and raccoon from Backyard Party just popped right into my head!

The tree from Holiday Characters is a no brainer! As is the snowbank from the Landscape dies! :)

Now for a bit about coloring those two critters — they both use a combo of ultramarine blue + transparent red oxide! These are my go-to colors for critters of all shapes and sizes. Pro tip: Note that you can use burnt sienna too if ya don’t have transparent red oxide.

Just adjust the amount of brown/blue to get it to your liking! You can use the same colors for the shading, too.

  1. How cute are those two critters dancin’ around the ‘rockin’ Christmas tree! Thanks for the tips on coloring in the critters with the red. I enjoy little hints like that!
