Grapevine Hills

It’s all gloomy here today so I thought it was time for some more Big Bend pictures! These are the balanced rocks on the Grapevine Hills trail. We did this hike with our friends David and Jolyn and we had a blast!

It’s an easy hike out to the rocks — mostly flat and only 2.2 miles. The hard part is slogging through some sand.

There’s all kinds of neat plants to look at on the way including desert marigold, butterfly bush, cacti, and ocotillo! Oh and some globe mallows and a neat flame acanthus that I still have to look up! And there’s all kinds of cool rocks on the way too!

Here we are catching some shade under the rocks — it was great until we started wondering what would happen if that top one suddenly decided it was tired of balancing up there!

So then we headed out of there — check out the great view from under the rocks!

After the hike we had lunch and then went for a mountain bike ride on the Grapevine Hills road — what fun! Jason and David found the big ole grapevine out there too!

Another great day at Big Bend!

  1. Lisa,
I love looking at your blog every day. (I found the link to your blog from a post on 2Peas.) Your pictures are beautiful … and I am in awe of your design work with your cards. Can’t wait to see more of your work! Will you have cards in the new Hero Arts catalog coming out? :)

    Have a great day!
    Sarah

Wish it were Friday!! Very anxious to see the great cards you have made (for Hero Arts) this time. I visit your blog daily ; it makes me feel as if I am actually visiting the States, while I am many many miles away.
