Hero Arts Stamped Stitches Ad!

Was sitting on the couch flipping through the June issue of Creating Keepsakes and to what did my wondering eyes did appear but this Hero Arts ad! That’s my card in blue on the left, and Sally’s card is on the right — directions for it are here.

I just love these Stamp Stitches, they really do look real! Here’s how I made my card — paint watercolors from the watercolor paint wheel on the stamp, mist and stamp on watercolor paper. Emboss in clear. Then paint with watercolors — it all matches! Pierce the paper with a hat pin. Stamp all over a blue notecard with the stitched circles in VersaMark ink, then sew all over them with a sewing machine without thread. Lightly glue three edges of the flower panel to the card, then sew around the three edges — with thread this time, ha!

If you see this card in the Stamp Stitches spring supplement, you’ll notice that I stamped three messages on scraps of cardstock, trimmed them, tied ribbons to the ends, and tucked them in the unstitched side.

Supplies: Sitched Flower Trio (H4063), Stitched Circles (F4028) and Pocketful o’ Sunny Messages (LL123), Assorted Crystal Gemstones (CH117) for the flower centers.

Great to see you back blogging again. The cards are beautiful. Makes me ( a non stamper ) to go out and buy those stamps.

  2. I think you are a natural watercolorist! The cards look so sunny and cheerful! Also, did you see the watercolor instructions someone linked on GW?

  3. Hi Ann! Thanks for the compliment! I love to watercolor — it is fast and easier on the fingers than colored pencils when you have to make a bunch of cards.

I just went and found the link on GW, awesome site — thanks for letting me know! Here’s the link if anyone else would like to see it:

About five years ago, I developed a class I called “Stamping keeps me in Stitches” where I did faux sewing and quilting on cards etc. I even submitted it to Northlight for a book and they called me and said Oh yes, we are very interested! Well, life happened and my sewing cards kind of got pushed to the background and I never did anything with it…..now it is all the rage!
Thanks for sharing your card in the ad…I did see the ad (and of course, thought of my cards I did previously!)

  7. Hi Holly!

Would love to see your cards, you always make such awesome things!! Isn’t it weird how sometimes we’re ahead of the curve? I just bought a sewing machine and then all the stitched stamps started coming out — still can’t sew very well but love the stitched stamps!

Maybe you can still do the book!??!
