Hey all! I finally had a chance to sit down and play with the new Hero Arts daubers today — not for an assignment or anything — but just for fun! I had a blast! And I thought I’d play with the Heart Frame Cuts too. Trying to get a head start on Valentine’s Day cards since I didn’t get to make all of the Christmas cards I wanted to…!
Anyhow, here’s my cards!
I kept it on the clean and simple side. Started out by making a bunch of hearts. This was so super easy to do — I just grabbed some white cardstock and swiped on various dauber colors, including new Dark Quartz, Pastel Peach, Pastel Pink, and Ultra Pink. Threw in some Pale Tomato too.
Love how the pastel colors overlap with the more solid colors – gives a neat chalk like effect! Then after it was dry I die cut the hearts.
Love how they’re all a bit different, don’t you?
To finish off the card, I die cut the same heart in a notecard, then closed the card and glued the heart to the inside. These are 4 bar luxe white notecards from Paper Source — love them so much! They have such great texture.
I added a message from the Lisa’s Mix & Match Messages set, stamping the outline of the banner in Ultra Pink ink and then watercoloring it with matching Ultra Pink dauber. I just tapped my Ultra Pink dauber on a craft sheet, then my trusty water brush to pick up color and paint away. Then I adhered just the edges of it to the front of the card.
Finally, I splattered on some gold and black Studio Calico Mister Huey’s, added some black decor and that was that!

love love the swiped look! such a pretty card, Lisa!
Beads & yarn and rubber smatps are used often in my home. It’s been funny to see my collection from when I was younger being used by my kiddos Suzy’s Zoo smatps, Looney Tunes, etc. I love the coffee filter idea!! We will definitely try that.
Absolutely 100% love this idea….and your card is stunning! Can’t wait to see what else is new for 2014! Thanks for sharing with us! Happy New Year!
Nice card honey!
