We saw this cute little guy on the trail down to The Window. Doesn’t he look all innocent and cute? Like he’s saying Whatever it was, I didn’t do it! Squirrels always look like they’re up to something, even when they’re not! Wonder what it would be like to spend a day as a squirrel? Probably fun!
Anybody know what species of squirrel it is?
I’m guessing it’s a Rock Squirrel (Spermophilus variegatus) — COMMON Big Bend’s largest and most common squirrel is often seen in the higher elevations of the Chisos Mountains. Occurs throughout the park, normally in rocky canyons and on mountain slopes.
