I love paperwhites! Mine are just starting to bloom in a pot on the windowsill — the smell is like nothing else — wish you could smell them!
I was inspired to make a card this morning and took a picture before I left for work — finally had a chance to put it up just now! Busy day!
The background is done with watercolor crayons — I just sketched out a square with different shades of ochre and green and edged it with a darker brown, then went over everything with a wet brush. The leaves were done with a watercolor pencil after the background had dried. I left the flowers white.
Supplies: The trio of paper whites is an old Hero Arts stamp (E2245) and is from 2001. The thank you stamp is a new 2006 stamp (C3964). I stamped both of these using Ancient Page Chocolate ink. The green paper is some that I got at Paper Place, not sure who makes it. Lyra watercolor crayons. Hero Arts watercolor paper. The paper white bulbs are from Smith and Hawken — they have the best bulbs — many of them have multiple bloom stalks and I’ve never had one fail yet!
I think I am going to have to get me some watercolour crayons. I love how they blend in with each other.
Nice card, and I like the way you photographed it in the greenery.
