Raindrops keep fallin’ on my head.

This photo of echinacea angustifolia — otherwise known as purple coneflower — was taken on Monday at a prairie remnant near Mesquite, TX.

It had rained that morning there, and yep, those raindrops have been falling on my head ever since.

It’s raining as I type.

There’s been lots of flooding in Austin and the surrounding area, but so far we are good.

Fingers crossed.

More photos from the prairie weekend coming soon — now I’m off to bed.

I’ll leave you with some Eddie Rabbit lyrics that seem right for tonight:

Well, I love a rainy night
I love a rainy night
I love to hear the thunder
Watch the lightning
When it lights up the sky
You know it makes me feel good

  1. Hi Lisa – love these TX coneflowers – I think this blog entry of mine from last week might be of the same thing???

  2. Hi Laura! They are almost the same thing — they are both purple coneflowers for sure! Yours looks like a cultivar of echinacea purpurea.

    Both sure are pretty!

  3. July IS the best month EVER!
