This CardArt Love Birds stamp is one of my faves from the 2008 Catalog because it can be used so many ways and for so many kinds of cards — valentines, weddings, anniversaries or “just because”.
I really love stamping it with a light colored ink and going over detailed areas with colored pencils — it looks complicated, but it’s really easy!
Full instructions plus more samples and kits here.
If you have any questions on the colored pencil technique, just post ’em in the comments section and I will do my best to answer them!
Love the birds. I really like them colored blue.
Love, MOM
I just ordered this stamp and am so excited to get it! What color did you stamp it originally, before using the pencils? Did you trim around the lacy edge of it?
How would this look if you stamped it all in one color? (I looked for a sample of it done with one color on the Hero Arts site but didn’t see one.)
Thanks for your advice! Am looking forward to making valentines with this one.
Hi Margot!
The original color is the rose from the Rose Petals Chalk Queue. It’s the lightest color in the queue.
I didn’t cut around the edge — that is White StazOn stamped on acetate. :)
And, here it is stamped in brown!
Let me know if you have any other questions! Have fun!

Love the way the lace looks against the brown! Very realistic!
I love it stamped in brown, too! Thanks so much for these ideas…I can’t wait to play with this one.
Hello, first time I’ve landed on ur site.
Amazing stuff.. have spent the last 3 hours browsing thru what you’ve got.
You are so talented.. God bless. And you are very kind as well – taking time out to share it with others!
Cheers to you.
