Hi + welcome to my stop on the Cards for Heroes Blog Hop! I’m so happy to be part of the hop + help get the word out about this great cause! If you’re joining in the middle of the hop, click on over here to start at the beginning.
I read where Cards for Heroes really needs cards that can be used for any purpose, and I instantly thought of using these stamps:
AND! I thought the owl looked a too plainish standing there by herself, so I got the idea to make a little flag!
I’ve created a little pattern for you if you’d like to make some of these flags yourself! Just download the pdf HERE, then print it out, trim out a flag, fold it in half and adhere it to a toothpick — I used a glue stick to adhere mine. If you use the pattern, I’d love to see what you come up with — leave me a linky!
Supplies: Hero Arts Design Block Clouds, Design Block Designer Woodgrain, A Little Note Design Accents set, Four Stylish Owls set, gemstones, and notecards. Nestabilities Labels One die. Ribbon by American Crafts. Prismacolor colored pencils. And the free pdf pattern HERE.
Here’s some tips on how I made the card: I stamped the Hero Arts Designer Woodgrain on a green die cut, then trimmed it to make a hill — I love woodgrain and am always looking for new ways to use it, ha ha! Then I used a paper edge distressor to distress the top edge of the hill, made cuts along to the top and then ruffled them up. To add a little more dimension, I adhered the inner die cut with pop dots. AND! Since I trimmed the card to make it square, the flag can hang off the edge and still fit in a regular sized envelope.
Next I thought I’d show you card that you can make multiples of in a jiffy — these are great for card drives like Cards for Heroes!
It may look complicated, but thanks to BIG Design Block stamps it’s not at all! Just stamp the Design Block Reach for the Stars with white Staz-on ink on an acetate notecard like so:
Then stamp the Design Block Designer Woodgrain on a red notecard and cut into strips — you can get 4 strips out of each side of a notecard. Adhere a strip to the front of the acetate notecard, then put adhesive on the inside of the acetate notecard — behind the strip so that it’s hidden. Slip a kraft notecard inside and press down on the acetate notecard to adhere it in place. Then assemble the rest of the pieces and ta dah!
Supplies: Hero Arts Design Block Reach for the Stars, Design Block Designer Woodgrain, Clear Design Card Messages, Clear Design Galaxy of Stars, buttons, red and kraft notecards. White Staz-On ink by Tsukineko, chestnut roan and dark brown chalk inks by Clearsnap. Ribbon from my stash. EK Success corner rounder punch. Blue paper by Bo Bunny. I embossed the star with white embossing powder.
Now, onwards to the next stop in the hop — my fellow Hero Artist and friend, Shari Carroll! Hop on over and check out her fabulous creation HERE. And! I should mention that there’s a great giveaway going on at the Hero Arts Blog right now, plus on Monday we’ll be back with more FUN + giveaways!
