This post is a tale of lots of T’s!
First off: the typhoon that hit Tokyo! The rain was sheeting down at times, and it was really windy, whew! Here’s a view of the hotel where we are staying in Tokyo from the Toyo Corporation’s conference room across the street — it’s the shorter tan building:
Toyo is the company that invited Jason to come and speak at the conference. He met with them yesterday to go over some things, which left me with 5 hours on my own. What’s a girl to do with that much time and a typhoon on, eh? Why shopping, of course!
First off I hit one of my favorite stores in Tokyo — Keyuca — they have simple, elegant housewares. I like to get housewares as souvenirs when we travel — that way I can remember the fun times everyday! Yesterday I picked up some beautiful tea mats, a mug, and a metal coffee filter cone holder. I think I’m going to have to go back and get a bamboo tray tho, hmmmm.
Then I stopped at a French cafe for some coffee — so rich that it tasted like chocolate, mmmm. Properly fortified, I headed out into the rain for another of my favorite stores — Itoya! It’s floor upon floor of stationary, stamps, watercolors, colored pencils, pens, notebooks, and thousands of markers. It’s just a short metro ride to Ginza:
Of course I had to peek in the Apple Store on the way, ha!
I’ll show you the Copic markers a little later in the post — but first I had to dash back to Toyo so that we could leave for Yokohama. Here’s the hotel where we stayed — right on the water:
And what a view! Here’s the scene this morning from our window on the 20th floor:
And, here are those markers! I think I’m going to have to go back and get a few more — but at least I finally have some pinks — I had been hunting for them forever in the states:
Can’t wait to take them home and play!
I’ll leave you with a picture of some super yummy green tea that I had this morning:
Oh and! I’m writing this from CEDEC! J just finished up his panel discussion, it went great! Next up is his presentation.
More later after we’re back in Tokyo,
OMG, I don’t suppose you have room in your bag to pick me up the pink Copics while you’re there, do you? LOL I’ve been wanting nice pinks forever!! Lucky you!
Too bad about the rain but it makes for some beautiful photos. Sounds like you are having a good time in Japan. Can’t wait to see more of your photos.
