Hi there, and welcome to my little stop on the Hero Arts 2012 Catalog Blog Hop! You should have arrived here via the amazing Kelly Purkey’s blog, so if you took a wrong turn or encountered a broken link you can head back to the start of the hop!
For my hop cards I just had to break out the new Hero Arts Zig Zag Background Cling stamp (CG422) — love this stamp so much! You see, I’m a bit (!) of a chevron nut, and have been dreaming of loads of ideas for this stamp — some of which I’ve saved on my chevron Pinterest board. (Are you on Pinterest? Let me know, I’d love to follow you!)
So to start off, I just had to try white embossing the stamp on a white notecard and then brushing on watercolors. First I used a cheery palette of pink, yellow, and orange and it really made me smile!
Isn’t it great how watercolors blend together to make interesting new colors? I just used an old cheapy Crayola set for this card — first one that I grabbed! — but I can’t wait to try this with Twinkling H2O’s!
Next I had to try the same technique again, but this time with a tranquil blue, lavender and pool color combo. Isn’t it peaceful?
Next I wanted to try some clean and simple cards where the Zig Zag Background would truly take center stage, and I came up with these!
I just stamped the Zig Zag Background off the edge of the card — no need for masking! Love how these came out. Even though they do make me hungry for something minty! Ha ha ha!
I could go on and on and on making cards with this stamp! (But I better stop, or you’ll never make it to the end of the hop! ha.)
Here are a few things I can’t wait to try next:
- Embossing in white and rubbing with Distress Inks
- A tone-on-tone background — or even doing tone-on-tone on a bunch of colors of cardstock, cutting them in strips, and putting on a card!
- Bright yellow on white (for another cheery card!)
- Brown ink on a kraft notecard for a masculine card
- Stamping once in one color, then inking the stamp up with a different color and positioning it down a bit from the first stamping!
- Inking the stamp with multiple colors of inks, misting with Perfect Pearls in water and stamping!
I have a feeling this stamp is going to be my “go-to” stamp for quite a while now!
Your next stop on the hop is Her Royal Rubberness, the super duper fab-u-loso Julie Ebersole! Take it awaaaaaaaay, Julie!
Thanks for hopping by,
Such happiness!!! Love what you have done. Was not going to send Christmas Cards this year, now I might just get them into the mail. Better late than never@!@
I love how you softened the look of the chevron in the first 2 cards, but then let it stay crisp and bold in the last cards. It really is a versatile stamp!
I am a chevron look lover too!! That is a very versatile stamp!
I am really digging this zig-zag stamp! The watercolor effect in the pastels would look really cute for easter cards.
Love all the different ideas with the zig zag stamp! :)
I am loving this Zig Zag stamp! Beautiful colors on these cards!
What a cool technique – now I HAVE to have this stamp!!!
Wow I love all your great ideas, especially the multicolours under the chevron pattern!
I love your clean and simple ensigns Lisa. Needed to tell you that your last two cards really inspired me to make a set of XMas cards using the basic layout, thank you!
OMG! What a true beauty!!! Pink is my favorite color, but when mixed with yellow it’s just super sweet and soft!!! Pure sophistication!!! (:
Thanks for sharing. I just love your work.
This cling zig zag is on my wishlist already. But now you make me want to own it right away! This is because all the cards you features here are so amazing with the use of this zig zag stamp!
So great! Just love your watercoloring. I think I’ll be putting this stamp on my wishlist.
I can’t believe how many different cards you’ve created using this simple background. WOW!
I love those backround stamps! Yet I have never been able to spend enough on a stamp to get one.
Love your zigzag ideas!!!
Cute cards!! I love the zig zag stamp!!!
The cards are beautiful and your further ideas are great too. I keep seeing this stamp used in the blog hop and it has to be the most versatile of all the stamps (you have proved it!!).
LOVE the CHEVERON!!
