Today is my friend Sally’s birthday! Sally works with me at Hero Arts and she is just all kinds of awesome. For those who don’t know her, she’s super creative, funny, and she always tells it like it is. (Love that.) She has a thing for pink and hearts, too. And she likes to keep things simple.
So when I spied some pink and gold glitter paper at the craft store I HAD to get it to make her birthday card. Had to. I also wanted to try my had at gelatos — had never used them before but I got a kit that had some pretty pinks and a little shimmer so I thought they’d be perfect with the paper.
I just scribbled some gelatos on regular white cardstock, then dipped my finger in water and went over the scribbles to blend them. Super easy and fun — made me feel like a kid finger painting :)
I thought it needed a little something, so I made some splats with gold Mister Huey’s. Then I stitched it in place with gold metallic thread and added the die cut heart. Still thought it could use a little something more, so I colored in the letters in the message with a gold Wink of Stella pen.
Check that sparkle!
While I had everything out I went ahead and cut out a 3×4 card to use for Project Life using the Hero Arts frame cut. Gotta say that even though this paper is pretty thick and it has big pieces of glitter the Hero Arts frame cuts worked perfectly! Can’t wait to finish my pages about our New Year’s hike — yeah I’m behind ha.
To finish off the card, I edged a cream envelope with gelatos and blended with a little water, then added some washi and a Knot and Bow neon pink heart. Woo!
Happy birthday Sally!!!! Hope your day is as awesome as you are! :)
absolutely beautiful…gelatos and glitter = ♥
This is beautiful Lisa! I have seen a lot of people do wonders with gelatos. They look so fun. May have to try.
SWOON! I know Sally would love this! I also love the gold stitching!
I love your card, Lisa – the touches of gold make it so special!
