WCMD #1: Playing with acrylic paint!

Hey hey! Did you make any cards for World Cardmaking Day? I made a bunch! I’ve had these ideas kicking around in my brain for months now and finally (!) had a chance to sit down and plan, yay!

For this first batch of cards, I broke out my Studio Calico Color Theory acrylic paint. Love this stuff, the colors are so vibrant and it dries like a dream. I don’t have a green (yet!) so I rolled my own with something blue and sunny day.

Once that was dry I used a sponge to add some white paint — I think it looks like frosty snow. Then when that was dry I stamped my fir with black ink and colored it with pencils. (If you want to read more about the story behind the fir check out this post. I drew it while staying at a cozy cabin in Quebec. It’s just so unreal using a stamp that I drew. And such an honor, too.)

acrylic painted layers!

I painted on some white polka dots, then painted over them with red. Adding the white layer first really helps make them POP!

Then I tied the tag to a card, splatted it with silver added a message from this set (love that font and well the whole set — bottlebrush trees yay!) and that was that!

Back in a bit with another card made with my fir. :)

Happy WCMD!
