Hi there and welcome to my stop on the Altenew Metallic Watercolor Release Blog Hop! I’m so glad you’re here!
These new colors are so pretty you all! And I love that them come in a metal tin with full size pans — check it out:
As soon as I saw these gorgeous colors I couldn’t wait to swatch them on regular watercolor paper and black cardstock — here are my swatches!
Then I had to put them through their paces by making both a warm and a cool card using the Leaf Clusters Dies — oh my! These colors work beautifully together.
Warm Fall Leaves
First up, the warm card — I think this is perfect for fall or Thanksgiving, but I needed some birthday cards so I went with that sentiment instead. Leaves are just so very versatile!
Here’s a closeup so you can see it better — it’s so hard to capture that shimmer!
Oh and! The middle leaf was cut out of black cardstock and I think it really steals the show! The other two leaves are on regular watercolor paper.
The black cardstock did curl a little more but I think this just adds to it!
Cool Leaves
Now for the cool version — it always amazes me how just changing the colors on a card can totally switch up the mood.
Once again I think that black cardstock leaf steals the show!
I can’t wait to use these watercolors on other kinds of cardstock — I bet navy would be so pretty! Or dark green for a Christmas card.
And that was that! I had a video for you but it didn’t come out, darn! Before I go I wanted to share a little tip for using these — when you first get your paints out, drop some clean water on the pans of the colors you’d like to use — by the time you die cut your leaves the color will be softened up and so rich and dreamy!

Love your card and agree, the black is awesome!! TFS!!
Truly beautiful cards Lisa! Thanks for showing the difference of using black cardstock & white in your swatches. Great idea. The leaf cluster die is wonderful in both the cool & warm colours. Can’t decide if I like one more than the other ’cause it turns out I really like them both equally.
Love metallic Watercolors for the fall
I love the different feel you achieve with the colors. The fall color one is my favorite.
Stop, already. These are so beautiful! I even love the swatch pages! I’ve already decided these paints are a must-have!
Both look incredibly pretty!!
Your leafy cards look awesome!!

Beautiful!!! Love both your colorways!!!
I love the yin and yang vibe you have going on with this set, Lisa!
I want a pan I love painting with metallic paint in acrylics so would love to be a first to use it with water colour.
thanks for making cool and warm colored cards. It is nice to see the difference. The sideoats are beautifull
Great presentation metallic colors. Thanks for the inspiration.
So pretty! I love seeing similar designs in different palettes. It’s so fun to stretch a design idea. :)
Hi Lisa,
Firstly, I’ve never seen such pretty swatches in my life, both swatches are beautiful.
Secondly, what a great idea to do a warm and cool version of cards, I will definitely try that.
Thirdly, the technique – how you applied the watercolour is amazing. There’s a lightness to it, which resembles regular watercolours that I like – giving both cards such an amazing look. I can’t even pick a favourite card because both are lovely and having both with a black leaf was really smart too. You’re clearly and extremely creative and talented person. Thank you soo much for sharing your wonderful creations.
Beautiful cards! Love your color choices.
Gorgeous cards! I love the colors you used and the leaf cluster die. Thanks for sharing.
Lovely cards. I love the shimmer and shine of these gorgeous new watercolors.
Beautiful cards. Love the lighter colors with the darker in the center
Hi Lisa :) I love the mixed media feel of your cards!!! The swatches were very helpful too! Thanks for inspiring me :)
