Hi there and welcome to my stop on the Altenew Craft-A-Flower Daisy release blog hop! I’m so glad you’re here.
The Craft-A-Flower: Daisy Layering Die Set can be used with cardstock to make clean and simple designs — there’s even a bundle where you can pick up Altenew’s gradient cardstock and save 5%!
But if you know me, then you’ll know I just couldn’t resist using watercolors on these! :)
I got a little carried away with my cards — once I started playing I just couldn’t stop! So I have two versions of the same card to share with you: a sophisticated version using metallic watercolors and a bright and cheery version too!
Let’s hop to it!
Cheerful Daisies
First off, meet the cheerful version! I don’t know about you but I can use some cheer about now.
I started off by splashing on some color on watercolor paper, then I die cut the flowers and leaves.
Then I added some simple shading and details with another layer of the same color — so easy!
I curled the leaves a bit to add a little dimension — I think it almost looks 3D!
Sophisticated Daisies
For this next version I just had to play with the metallic watercolors — oh yes, HAD to be done!
I did the same steps as the cheerful version, only this time I cut the centers of the flowers out of black cardstock — I think it really makes them pop.
I wish you could see that metallic shimmer — it’s almost impossible to photo — but trust me, it’s there!
I can’t wait to get these in the mail for my stepmom and mother-in-law. Their birthdays are only 3 days apart so I usually end up making them similar cards while I have my supplies out.
I’d love to hear which version you like best — sophisticated or cheery!

Thank you so much for joining me and hope you have a great day!
Gorgeous, colorful cards. Love this beautiful daisy. (As a side note, I’m new to your blog and noticed in your brief profile you said “sideoats” is the state grass of Texas. I’ve learned something today. I’ve lived in North Texas all my life (72 years!) and never knew that!)
Nice cards!
Everyone needs a little cheer in their mailbox right now, those bright flowers will bring smiles to the recipient.
The second card is nice too.
These are both beautiful! I love the idea of the double watercoloring, first on the paper and then on the actual die cuts! I think this will work better than just trying to watercolor on the die cut as I’ve been doing.
I love the boldness of the metallic watercolor.
Both of these versions look great to me!! I have to pull out my metallic watercolors ; you’re right that I can’t see how the metallics shine. your mom and mom in law will love them!
Beautiful cards! The coloring method give the blooms so much life.
Excellent use of color.
Gorgeous!!
Beautiful cards! Love daisies and these colors! Great inspiration!
I appreciate how you added dimension,
Awesome creations, I especially love your daisies against the kraft!
I too like watercolors, splash around see what comes out and then your process of using the die cut. Looks nice. Of course metallic too. Artsy card and like them both.
Like the look of those flowers using the metallic watercolours. Very nice cards.
Wow! Beautiful! I love the color combinations, especially the bright one!
I especially like the bright colored daisies. Very cheerful!
Lots of fun colors on these cards! They will make the recipient smile when they get them! Happy cards!!
Love the colors on the flowers!
Great color mixes. I like the sophisticated combination best.
Beautiful cards! I love that you used watercolors to color and add dimension. My favorite is the metallic one. I really love those colors.
Cute flowers–I like your choice of colors.
Metallic daises, never would have thought of it, but I am sure some florist somewhere is like yeah baby! They do pop, you are right and I bet the shimmer is lovely in person. :) The cheerful ones are just that and of course who would not want cheer any day in their life?! Two really fun cards!
