You Are Awesome!
Now on to my card! Here’s a look at the finished design:
I decided to use one of my all time favorite Altenew products: the Leaf Clusters dies. I LOVE that you can use them standalone OR with the coordinating stamps — love getting more from my supplies that way!
I started off by watercoloring some scraps of watercolor paper with the Altenew 36 pan set. While the paint was still damp I splattered on some clean water to create a little interest.
True confession: sometimes when I have a bit of crafty time but I’m not sure what to make I sit down and color scraps of paper like this — it’s so relaxing and fun!
Oh and another tip: use the BIGGEST brush you have for this — don’t fiddle around with a tiny little thing! :)
When they were dry I die cut them with those leaf clusters!
Then for the base card, I white heat embossed the woodgrain background in the A Walk in the Woods set — love the look this gives.
Then it was a simple matter of assembling the card and adding some sequins:
Here’s a closeup so you can see all those delicious colors and textures better!

Such a great idea to die cut out images and then watercolor over them to create a one of a kind look. Simply beautiful!!. Happy Anniversary Altenew!.
LOVE the brightly colored leaves!!
Hello from Arizona. Such beautiful colors! Thanks for sharing
Hi from Switzerland ! I like your idea of coloring die cuts like this. And by the way, I have this sentiments stamp set in french and it’s my favorite of all times ! I love this look !
Hi from NC. Wonderful inspiration and techniques.
Hi from central Florida! Love the colors you used!
Hi from Arizona! Your watercoloring is so vibrant. Thanks for sharing.
Hello from Brisbane, Australia. I love that you have used leaves die cut from your own water coloured backgrounds. That’s something I do often. I hate wasting cardstock so I use it up anyway I can and inking it up is so much fun to do. I love the simplicity and vibrancy of your card, Lisa.
Oh wow! What a lovely look! I would never think of doing this, and I just love it!! Thank you for your fresh inspiration!!
Hi from sunny Florida!!! I just love this card! I’m going to watercolor some scraps and cut them out – great technique!
Hi from Australia! Stunning die cut creation with the watercoloured card! So eye-catching!! Thanks for the inspiration! Take care! :)
Hi from Canada. Your card is so beautiful.
Hi from Wisconsin! I love the fun colors you used.
Such a bright and cheery card. Very pretty arrangement.
What a bright and happy card! Love it!
Hi there from the Hill Country in Texas! Just around the corner from you it seems :-) I do the same thing with “backgrounds” and have a bunch of them sitting around waiting to be used. I think I’ll have to pull out my dies and get creative. I hate wasting any ink or paint so I often end up mopping up color on varieties of watercolor paper and/or cardstock that’s handy.
Hi from Denver CO…love how you used the watercolors for your paper before cutting them. Just love this card!
Hello from Cardiff-by-the-Sea, California. Wonderful colors.
Hi from Boston! This is such a good idea for the dies! I feel like I get in a rut and this is a great idea to just play :)
Hey Lisa. I am most definitely going to try your calming idea of just enjoying adding paint to paper, then deciding at another time (when in more creative mood) to use various parts on a project. Your card is glorious.
