I was flipping through the Crate & Barrel catalog when I saw these beaded wire trees and they reminded me of a Memory Box tree stamp I bought last weekend at Stamp Antonio! So then I just had to try and make this card.
Here’s my thought process in case you’re interested — first I stamped the tree in gold and embossed it in a sparkly gold embossing powder — not sure if you can see all the sparkles but they’re there in real life! Then I used red glitter glue to make the ornaments. I trimmed it and added the bit of patterned paper, then added the red background layer.
I made the card out of a goldish colored paper that has some ridges in it to look like the wires on the trees. Then I replicated the look of the catalog text using the Hero Arts holiday messages set stamped in gold and sprinkled in some stars in the empty spaces — the stars are also by Hero Arts. I thought it could use a little more red so I stamped the Hero Arts word borders in red.
I set the tree on the card and thought it needed something, so I made a hole in the tree layer and the card, placed a bit of ribbon underneath and secured it with the star brad. Then I thought hmmmm, could still use a little something — so I rustled around and came up with the Celebrate the Season sticker by Making Memories, put it on a white scrap of cardstock and stapled it in place with gold staples — also by Making Memories. To give it the last bit of zing I added the row of rhinestones from Hero Arts. Ta da!
If someone had these trees on their table they could make great matching placecards! Or you could match your placecard to your own table decorations! My table has a scarlet Fiesta cream and sugar set for a decoration — not sure how I could make something to match that, but I’m working on it!
