There was a whole patch of ’em, too. Growing side by side. One more reason to save every prairie remnant that we can — each one is special and unique.

In case you are wondering, these are called Indian blankets or firewheels. Photos taken on Saturday at Simpson Prairie.

  1. Oh my gosh, you’re making me just ache to get to Texas! My DH grew up in Angleton, went to A&M, then married this yankee. We live in FL now but bought lake property off 45 near Fairfield for our “someday” retirement. I don’t dare show these photos to him, he’ll quit on the spot!
