I made this card to take to my Gran. I was thinking about her mom (my Great-Grandma) and how she made quilts. All by hand. I love quilts. They’re so comforting to me. (More than comforters, ha!)
One time my Grandma, her sister, my sister and I all made quilts for our beds. I think I was maybe 14? Can’t remember.
I still have mine, even though it’s for a twin bed. (And there are no twin beds to be found in our house.)
Do you have things you’ve saved even though you don’t use them — only because you made them with someone you love?
Resources: Hero Arts flower stamp from the Sweet Threads Thank You set (CL511, available in April). Fabriano notecard. Pearls also by Hero. Not sure where I got the sticker, I’ve had it for a while now, just saving it for the right moment. I think it’s by Cosmo Cricket. I used Momento markers by Tsukineko to color directly on the stamp, then I misted it with water and stamped it on white cardstock.
Hugs,
WOW! Love, love, love this, Lisa I am sure that your Gran will adore this beautiful card, hugs!
Lisa, wonderful card and I love the quilt it is sitting on too! It’s lovely to have something like that which holds special memories. I have saved on to so many things that I never use but hold special meaning for me. One of my favourites is my dad’s thimble which I keep in my sewing box (so I see it a lot!) but never use. Even though he wasn’t a tailor he used to make lots of our clothes when we were kids and I can remember him using the thimble. He passed away many years ago but I still think of him a lot.
This is so beautiful Lisa! A true gem!
Lisa! This is so pretty! Oh my gosh, I love it. I really, truly do.
I think your Gran is going to love this pretty card, Lisa and your quilt looks so beautiful! Thinking of you. . . . .hugs!
This is so pretty! That’s a sweet post too, Lisa. Grandmas are great, aren’t they? I sure do miss mine.
This is so sweet, Lisa! I really like the pattern with the pinking decorative edges! This is such a special card for your grandmother!
I have lots of handmade goodies that are treasures!. I have a quilt made by my Grandmother as a wedding present…I have three quilts made by my Mother and some crocheted bedspreads made by her as well. I have a little bit of tatted lace made by my husband’s Grandmother. These are wonderful memory pieces of them!!!!
Such a sweet card, and a lovely story too! I am a great one for keeping old things with a special connection, Jo x
Love that beautiful quilt Lisa, and of course your stunning card. Great details ;)
It’s precious to keep hold of those memories – I do the same, keeping clothes that no longer fit, but knowing that my mum made them for me. Thinking of you, hugs, Ruth S
Love your card. I have lots of stuff from when my kids were babies. Who knows if they will want it but I just could not get rid of it. It brings back wonderful memories when I look at them.
Super, super cute!! LOVE the rainbow of colors on this! Big hugs to you!
I love this card, Lisa and I am sure your Gran will too! I hope she is feeling better!!
This is so pretty! Love the colors, the pearls, the pinked edges…. Thanks for sharing with us!
What a lovely lovely card! I adore the colors so much! Hope your grandma is doing better. Sending hugs!
Your card is wonderful. I love the colors. I also enjoyed reading your post. It made me stop and reflect on my grandmas, long gone but never forgotten. Thanks.
What a wonderful card. And thanks for making me think about the two sweaters I made with my grandmother’s help when she taught me how to knit. They were made in the late 1970s so the are very out of style but I still keep them in my cedar chest.
Wow, what an amazing card and what an awesome and sweet memory :)
Thanks for the eye candy.
I {heart}

I love your post! :) I have the most beautiful quilt my husband’s aunt made for our wedding and a wool afghan my Mom made for us. I have them in a chest, we live in a teeny tiny home with nowhere to put them out, but I love them :)
