Spread joy!

Hi there! Hope you’re having a great week so far! I have two cards to share with you today that you may have seen over on the Studio Calico blog — LOVE Studio Calico so much!

Here’s the first card featuring the Spread Joy set!

Isn’t it great how the wood veneer trees and the stamps go together? Such a great way to stretch your supplies, as you can make a whole forest of trees and add the wood veneer ones as special touches.

Speaking of special touches, how about that snowfall embossing folder! It comes in this pack — my fave this holiday season. And two more finishing touches: some peppermint twine by Lawn Fawn and rocky candy Distress stickles! I brushed it along the edge of the card (which I first edged in white ink), some of the stamped trees, and all the wood veneer trees. Love.

For the next card, I couldn’t resist breaking out some NEON, ha!

This card uses a “drop shadow” technique that looks so cool and really adds depth to your stamping! Just stamp in one color first, then overstamp slightly offset in another and presto, instant depth! For the “lisa and jason”, first I stamped in the soft granite and then I overstamped in neon. And the “love” stamp, first I stamped in soft granite and then overstamped in white — it really pops!

Last (but not least!) I had to mist the card front with Mister Huey’s Calico White — guess I had falling snow on the brain from the first card’s embossing, ha ha!

Hope you have a happy day! And happy Election Day to those in the US! I voted early since J had his tonsils out yesterday — poor guy! It seems so much worse to have your tonsils out when you’re an adult! I don’t remember much from when I had mine out as a kid except getting to eat all the Popsicles that I wanted. I especially liked the banana flavor — YUM!

I’m loving both of these cards, but then I always love your cards. I couldn’t help but notice the book under the tree card. Norah Lofts was a favorite of mine and I’m sure I’ve read every book of hers I could get my hands on. I may have to re-read some of them. Happy Election Day and I hope J feels better soon!!!!

  4. Banana flavored Popsicles are my fave flavor too, Lisa! And I haven’t had one in sooo long!

Love these two cards! The combination of glittery and wood trees looks amazing and I LOVE your shadow stamping on that adorable Jason and Lisa card! What a fun idea! :)

  5. Both cards are fabulous but I absolutely adore the one from you and Jason. So creative, so wonderful and so very unique. Always such a joy to look at your creations. They always bring a smile to my face! :)

  11. These are two gorgeous cards, Lisa! On the first one I love the way you’ve layered the stamped and wooden trees! The shimmer is so pretty too! Your second card is so fun and cute! Love your design and the colours! The white spray is such a great touch! Hope J has recovered from his op and I hope you’re leg is much better too:)
