Hi there and welcome to my stop on the Altenew May Release Blog Hop! I’m so glad you’re here.
I’ve got two cards to share with you today, both using the BIG, brand new A Walk In the Woods 6×8″ stamp set! I’ve always been a huge fan of woodgrain, and this stamp set is fast becoming one of my faves you all!
Here’s why I love this set:
- The woodgrain stamp is big enough to cover your whole card! YES!
- Those sentiments are so good.
- You can use it for both masculine and feminine cards — sometimes masculine cards are so hard to make, but not with this stamp in your toolbox!
So first up, a card for the men!
Happy Father’s Day
Dad and I love to go hiking together, so this sentiment is perfect for him. I was hunting around in my collection for a tree stamp and then it dawned on me that I could use the Festive Silhouettes CHRISTMAS stamp — yeah!
Full confession here, I don’t have the matching Festive Silhouettes dies so I had to hand-cut the tree — I know, right? Better get on that, stat! (PS. You can pick them up together in a bundle and save!)
I used the Coffee Break mini cube set to ink this up — I just swiped the ink cube across the stamp instead of tapping it. Love all of the browns in this set — you can blend them together to make them look even more like woodgrain. I’ve got a video to share how easy this is in my instagram stories! I’ll also show you the best way I’ve found to stamp this — without using a MISTI. :)
To finish off the card, I added the Happy Father’s Day stamp from the Best Dad set and a few enamel dots and that was that
Happy Mother’s Day
Now how about a feminine take? This time I went with a Mother’s Day card featuring the Stunning Cosmos Bundle.
To add a feminine twist, I softened the woodgrain by swiping over it with a little watered down white acrylic paint! I have a lil video in my instagram stories for this as well.
Then to finish off the card, I decided to cut the woodgrain background into strips and then I inked the edges with some espresso ink. After I put it together I had another idea to make a picket fence out of some pieces — can’t wait to try this!
