Howdy y’all! Welcome to my stop on the Ellen Hutson Christmas in July Blog Hop! I’m so glad you’re here!
I gotta tell ya, I LOVE making Christmas cards in July because it’s usually blazing hot here in Texas and they help cool me off! It’s still pretty toasty come December — we’re talking 80 degrees and shorts weather. So I came up with this little number and it’s just how I feel. Check it:
I pulled a bunch of different Essentials by Ellen sets together to come up with this card — I really love mixing things up this way. I had the idea to make a cactus standing in the snow, dreaming of a white Christmas and these stamps made it happen! I thought I’d do a quick run down for ya.
I started with the cactus from the Everyday Doodles set — that set is one of my all-time faves and I seem to use it allllll the time! Then I had to give him a Santa hat — doesn’t it look like he’s tipping it and saying “howdy, y’all”?! LOL!
Then I created a wintery landscape by combining the Alpine Snowfall die with the Alpine Windows — these two can also work for birthday cards as they look like confetti! Love getting more from my supplies that way.
Then I added some snowdrifts with the new Landscapes dies and glitter!
I finished off the card with the “dreaming of a white Christmas” from the Mountain Holiday set stamped in Rockin’ Red — this is the best red y’all — plus some clear droplets. PS. Did you notice I put one on the pom-pom of the Santa hat? :)
And that’s that!

Absolutely love your card. It is sooo cute!
Fabulous ideas and a wonderful showcase of the holiday goodies!
So cute! How lovely it would be to see a cactus topped with snow! Love the desert trends as I live in Phoenix and it helps to see beautiful side of this neck of the woods!
Wonderful card !!
Love the use of dies!
Very cool card, love the scene and the sense of humor it brings!
The clear droplet for santa’s hat, is a great detail. CAS card for sure but fun.
AWWHH so CUTE! And they do have snow in the mountains in AZ.
Wonderful, fun card. The sentiment is perfect for us in Texas — a white Christmas is definitely a “dream!”
Your card is adorable! I live in Florida where it is still hot in winter too! I think i just need to substitute a palm tree for the cactus & these could be my cards for this year!
It has been miserably hot in the Midwest this
year also so thinking about Christmas is a
good way to cool down. Love the cactus with
Santa’s hat – fun idea. Great layering.
