12 Tags / Day 4: Deck the Halls

Welcome back to Ellen Hutson’s annual 12 Tags of Christmas party! Today’s carol is Deck the Halls, and I had so much fun playing along with my friend Sandy on this one!

I wanted to switch things up today and make a circular/wreathy kinda tag, so I reached for the Circle of Stars die ! Note: this die only cuts the stars, so you’ll need some circle dies to cut it out. I used my trusty old Spellbinders nesting circle dies but I’ve listed some other options for ya below. I backed the circle with pink cardstock and then stamped the “Happy HOLLY Days” with red ink and heat embossed it in clear.

Then I decided to put down my watercolors and pick up my Zig Clean Color Real Brush markers! I feel like these give the tag a clean/modern look.

I wanted to make some minty green holly leaves to mingle in there with the more traditional green to keep things feelin fresh, so I used the both turquoise green and light green to color ’em. Of course the berries had to be red, right? Enter carmine!

And then! I’ve found that those same red droplets that I used for Rudolph’s nose also make the best berries! YES!
