Paper Crafts Magazine “Go to Sketches” Blog Hop!

Hi everyone! Have you heard about Paper Craft Magazine’s special “Go to Sketches” issue? It is packed with ideas that I can’t wait to try!  I hadn’t heard about it until my friend and Paper Crafts “Go to Girl”  Teri asked me if I’d like to play along in the Go to Gals and Friends Blog Hop celebrating the publication of the magazine — I am so honored!

For those of you who don’t know Teri, she is one super talented stamper and paper crafter. Her blog always makes me smile — when she posts a new card, she “introduces” it like it’s a new friend — one common saying that she uses is “meet today’s card” — how fun! So in keeping with that…

Hee hee.  This is one of the sketches that Teri has in the magazine and the one that she asked us to use today.

The thing I love about sketches is how they can spark your creativity and give you a launching point — but! — there are no rules — you can change them out to suit your style or any idea that you have.  Here’s what I came up with!

As you can see, I kept the basic layout the same with the rounded rectangles and the message, but then I took off from there and reversed them since I wanted the birds to seem like they were looking at each other, plus I added flowers, pearls, and a bow!

(Supplies: Bird Trio, Poly Clear Thanks Sayings, Poly Clear Essential Messages, Cling Flowing Flowers and Leaves, pearls, Soft Vanilla ink,  and yellow and kraft notecards by Hero Arts. I used Copic markers to color the birds.  Momento rich cocoa ink.  Martha Stewart Flower punch.  American Crafts gingham ribbon.  Corner rounder punch by EK Success.  White pen (to make the faux stitching) and Old Paper distress ink (to go around the edges of the rounded rectangles) by Ranger.  Whew, that took longer to type than it did to make!  Oh and here’s a little tip: I punched the flowers out of the flap of a kraft envelope and then I lined the flap with white — looks cool!)

Now, some more about the hop — every comment that you leave while hopping around — including on this post — counts as an entry to win one of three copies of Go-to-Sketches — woo hoo!

And, to see what the four other girls that Teri invited to join the hop came up with, just click on over — and don’t forget to check out what Teri did, too!

Now, you just gotta hop over to the other Go-to-Girls blogs and check out FIVE more sketches and see what their friends came up with!  Those gals are:

And! The comment-to-win ends at midnight MDT on Wednesday, April 7, so hop to it for your chance to win this mega-zine!

Happy hopping + sketching,
