It’s June!

How did that happen? May just seemed to fly by, didn’t? Don’t get me wrong though, I love June! It’s usually not too hot (although we’ve had a few 100+ degree days here already, yikes!) and I get to make my Dad a Father’s Day card (love coming up with something different each year to surprise him).

I especially love the themes for the June contest over on the Hero Arts blog: Weddings, Congratulations, and Watercolors. Oh yay!

Here’s a little wedding card I made using some new stamps from the summer catalog, new BasicGrey Out Of Print papers, and watercolors. I had so much fun making it — I imagined it was J and I and we got to get married all over again. (Check out the full materials and instructions.)

I loved our wedding day so much and thought about it the whole time I was making the card. We had a small wedding at J’s parents house in Ohio with close friends and family, and we were married by a good friend. There were thunderstorms early in the day and all through the ceremony, but then right after the sun came out and there was a beautiful rainbow. Such a happy day! Our wedding color was a pretty pool, but if I was doing it now I just might have to go with gray and yellow. :) How about you, what colors were your wedding? Would you change them?

Happy June!

  2. Super duper cute! I love it! My wedding colors were hot pink, a mango orange and dark purple. We had a sunset theme.

    1. Oh that sounds so pretty, Ashley! What a great idea!

  3. This card is sooooooooo cute! I love the birdie couple!

  4. Lisa, what a fun post, and I love your sweet card! We will have been married 40 years next Monday! I graduated college on Saturday, and we were married in the college chapel (no a/c on a 90 degree day!) on Sunday! I had a rainbow wedding; my bridesmaids wore pastel green, yellow, pink and blue. And yes, I’d probably do the same again :) Way back then in the dark ages, we just had our reception (cake and ice cream only) outside in the chapel gardens. We had a thunderstorm, which broke up the festivities a little early, but my DH was glad, so we got a little earlier start on our honeymoon!

  5. Gorgeous card – that lovey-dovey birdies stamp is adorable!
Our wedding scheme was silver and lilac. As chosen by hubby actually, after he saw a table and flowers mocked up in those colours at a wedding fayre we visited.
My fave colour is duck egg blue but that wouldn’t have worked with the peonies and hydrangeas I wanted for my flowers. It was all a wonderful dream and I wouldn’t have changed a thing ;)
    Hugs, Ruth S

  6. My wedding colors (can I remember that far back) were yellow and white. It will be 39 years this August. Jamie and Eric’s were Burgandy and Hunter Green, but you probably remember that since you were in the wedding party. Love the card and the cute love bird stamp. Love, MOM

    1. I thought I remembered you telling me that your colors were yellow and white! Can’t believe it will be 39 years! Love you lots.

  7. Hi Lisa! Fun post! Love your adorable card! Those birds are so sweet! Just like Kathy K, my wedding color was plum. We were married in the month of October and my bridesmaids wore iridescent plum dresses. I had big bouquets of Star Gazer Lilies on the alter and each girl carried a three stem of the same flower, with the stems wrapped in pink ribbon. This October, my hubby and I will be married 23 years. I do love the thought of gray and yellow. . .boy that would be so pretty!

  8. Such a tweet wedding card:)

Gray and yellow sound like wonderful wedding colors!

  9. such a beautiful and sweet wedding card, Lisa! love the story behind it, too! love the yummy yellow! =)

  10. Ah, Lisa! You have used this cute stamp so eloquently. I loved hearing about your wedding – I love weddings! We were 46 and 47 when we married (1st time for both), so we were able to do exactly what we wanted. We were married at the coolest place, the Historic Rockefeller Lodge (an old hunting lodge used by the Rockefellers), married by our dear friend, had great weather, amazing flowers, and our colors were peach and ivory. I cherish every minute of that day. Thanks to you and to everyone for sharing.

  11. Aw this is adorable, Lisa! Sounds like you had a wonderful wedding day! Our wedding colour was a deep pink. We’ll be married 17 years in October and I wouldn’t change a thing, except for the huge glasses I wore that were in fashion then. Though if I didn’t wear them everything would have been a blur!

  12. We were married by a very dear friend too. Our wedding colors were eggplant and kraft. The florist used a lot of green cymbidium orchids and I loved that unexpected pop of color.
