Embossed washi!

Hi! Hope you are having a great weekend! I’ve been having a blast playing around with washi tape, but I had to stop and share something I hadn’t tried before: dry embossing washi tape!

First I made this card, with a few strips of washi and dry embossing with a houndstooth embossing folder. Love how this turned out!

I wish you could feel the texture that the embossing has made with the washi tape! It is so neat!

Now, before looking at the next card you might want to put on a pair of sunglasses, because I went to town with NEON washi tape!

I warned you it was bright, didn’t I? ha ha ha! The camera can’t quite capture all the neon goodness.

And oh whoa, the texture on this is unbelievable. This time I embossed the tape with a herringbone embossing folder. And this time I stopped myself before embossing it so that I could take a “before” picture to show you:

It still looks cool, right? But the herringbone embossing just sends it over the top! And the lines in the herringbone line up perfectly with the lines on the orange washi! Love it when something like that happens, don’t you?

Oh and the bird? I colored her with highlighter markers from the office supply store. Because she had to match the tape, right? ha. And see how the window is cut out? That is a Hero Arts die cut that matches the bird stamp — it cut through the washi tape no problem. Yay!

If you try this, I’d recommend using an embossing folder that has an all-over pattern that’s kind of bold, like the herringbone or houndstooth. I think a tapestry or brocade pattern would look great too, gotta try that next.

Can’t wait to send these off to friends!
