Backyard Bird Friends!

I’m back with another card using the newly released Essentials by Ellen  Backyard Bird Friends stamp set and matching dies — yeah, I just can’t stop using this fun set!  Be sure to check out the release page for see behind the scenes videos and more cards from the rest of the team!

In case ya missed it yesterday, here’s the set — so tweet, am I right?

Now for my card! I used the same exact stamps, placement and layout as I did yesterday, but this time I used Catherine Pooler inks instead of stamping in black. (Full supplies listed below!)

Note that you can do this with any water-based ink — but I have to admit that I really love the colors in the Catherine Pooler line — they’re just so pretty and vibrant! If you’re new to CP inks I’d recommend trying out the mini bundle.

I think the inks give the card more of a storybook feel! As far as coloring, I used a damp brush (or you could use a waterbrush) to pull color from the stamped image — love the soft look this gives. The trick here is to pull color in selected parts only. If ya do it all over the stamped image it ends up kinda messy looking, lol!

And then! To make the eye pop I added a single drop of black Nuvo crystal drops! Ahhh this makes me so happy!

I used the woodgrain (!) stamp from the EBE Winterscapes set as a background once again— love that set! I just heat embossed it in white.

I finished off the card with some sequins — and I added little stamped and die cut flowers too. Love how the sequins and the die cut flowers go together — it’s like they were made for each other!

A little glitter on the flowers and that was that!

I’ve listed both the Bird Friends stamp and die combo as well as the individual stamps and dies — although if ya pick up the combo you’ll save! And I gotta say that I love having the dies, I’m just no good at cutting out beaks, feet and branches by hand! :)

Thanks so much for joining me! xo
